In 2003 Kimball Health Services undertook a major update of the radiology department with a new radiographic room. A Computerized Radiography (CR) system was installed at the same time that allowed digital images to be captured and transmitted electronically. To store the digital images permanently, a Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) was added in 2004. This also led to a filmless department. The capability to transmit patient images directly into receiving facilities PACS was established. The addition of Computerized Axial Tomography (CT) in 2005 and a GE Lunar Duo DEXA scanner in 2007 has greatly enhanced the on-site services available in the radiology department. Most exams can be done the same day they are ordered, giving patients results more quickly. Images are intepreted by Advanced Medical Imaging Consultants (AMIC) in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Available technology allows report turn-around time in as little as 30 minutes for emergency and average same day for non emergent studies.
The Kimball Health Services Radiology Team consists of four Technologists registered with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists. Services Regularly scheduled Mobile Services are available giving our patients the option of having many specialty exams done on-site, including echocardiograms, ultrasound, MRI, nuclear medicine and doppler studies.
